About Us
Our Mission: Asian Sisters in Action, Inc. (ASIA) is a Greater
Boston area non-profit organization founded in 1981. Established by and for
women of Asian heritage, ASIA is committed to:
1. Act as a network and support system that fosters personal and collective
strengths.
2. Promote the interests and concerns of women in fighting all forms of oppression.
3. Work cooperatively within the Asian American community and within the women's
movement.
4. Learn from and support other communities and their movements for equality
and justice.
Meeting and Event topics: Past events include: conferences, themed potluck brunches, presenting members' writings and artwork; workshops on grant writing, non-profit organizing, and self-defense; forums on Asian understanding Asians and Asian American feminism; trips to beaches and mountains, and the ever-so popular annual Dragon Boat race. ASIA always welcomes ideas and/or co-sponsorship opportunities which support our mission.
Meeting schedule, locations: Events are usually held every month at various locations in the Boston area. We try to make all events accessible by public transportation and organize carpooling where possible.
Membership: Members receive a subscription to a private e-mail network for ASIA-related interests, invitations to ASIA events, and notification of community activities of interest. Members can also participate in planning of events for ASIA members and can sit on ASIA's steering committee.
Dues: $20 individual $25 organization - ASIA is a 501c(3) so your contribution is tax deductible!
