KELLY ZEN-YIE TSAI is a Chinese/Taiwanese American spoken word artist who strengthens cultural pride and survival through how she lives and how she spits. A poet, playwright, dancer and community organizer based in Chicago, she will continue to tour nationally with Mango Tribe (a fierce crew of APIA women warrior theater artists). This fall, Kelly performed at the Apollo Theater in Harlem in the world premiere of “We Got Issues,” a performance-based dialogue on feminine power and politics directed by Rha Goddess. She is also featured on this season’s “Russell Simmons Presents HBO Def Poetry Jam.”

TARA BETTS, writer/educator/performer, appears in the fourth season of HBO's Def Poetry Jam. She was also part of the cast for 2004 SouthWest VDay production of Eve Ensler's "Vagina Monologues" at Chicago's DuSable Museum. After winning Guild Complex's 1999 Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Award, Tara published her collection of poems Can I Hang? She also represented Chicago at the 1999 and 2000 National Poetry Slams, and co-hosted and organized and all women’s performance space/open mic series Women OutLoud. She has performed her work in Cuba, New York, the West Coast & throughout the Midwest. In addition to her experiences with page and the stage, Tara Betts teaches writing and co-founded GirlSpeak, a weekly writing/leadership workshop for young women.
