Unbinding Our Lives: Chinese Women in America (1850-1935)- Mar. 3, 2005
A one-women show, performed by Christina R. Chan. 6:00pm. MIT Building 32, Room 155.

Christina Chan shatters the exotic, subservient, China doll stereotype in her powerful one woman show. Christina portrays three real Chinese American women from China in the 1800's and their personal stories of being sold into child slavery, being forced into prostitution, and facing abandonment in the streets of China.

Reception to follow performance.
Hosted by MIT Professor Helen Elaine Lee.

Co-sponsored by the MIT Program in Women's Studies, Asian Sisters in Action (A.S.I.A.), the Writing and Humanistic Studies Program, MIT Foreign Languages and Literatures, and the MIT Asian women's lunch group by Counseling and Support Services at MIT.

Volunteers are needed for set up and help with the show. If interested contact Emily. Further information: (617) 253-8844
